Alliance in Action
Wayne County Medical
Society Alliance
First of all, I wish
to thank Lilly Khanna, Lakshmi Tummala, and Linda Allen for nominating
me and all the members for electing me as the Alliance President for the
year 2007-08. As the new president of the Wayne County Medical Society
Alliance, I am excited to take up the challenge. It’s a rocky road and
far to go. But where there is a will, there is a way.
I am already amazed
at how organized the Alliance is and what it has already accomplished.
I am proud of the Alliance organization and accomplishments.
The alliance has been
quite active in the previous quarter. We continued to support the YWCA
Interim House with donations of food, toys, and clothing, etc. The
Interim house provides safe haven and services to empower the survivors
of domestic violence and sexual assault.

The flyers ‘I Can
Handle Bullies’, ‘Hands Are Not For Hitting’ were provided to the
schools for awareness and educating children and their families. We
also participated in increasing awareness in ‘Making Our Environment
Smoke Free’ by getting signatures in the neighborhood. World Medical
Relief program was also supported.
The Alliance Annual
Spring Meeting/Luncheon was held at the Henry Ford Fairlane Estates in
Dearborn. A good number of alliance members attended the luncheon. The
event was a huge success. We thank Mr. Adam Jablonowski, and all the
members for being there and for their continued support to the Alliance.

The meeting started
with some time to socialize followed by the business meeting while we
all enjoyed lunch. Mrs. Lilly Khanna completed the year as Alliance
President with her inspiring and informative speech. Mrs. Khanna will
remain active with the alliance even if she does not hold the position
officially. The gavel was handed down to Pooja Singla, as she was
installed the new Alliance President for this year 2007-08. The
official oath was taken as Mrs. Linda Allen, President of Michigan State
Medical Society Alliance, lighted the candle.
Alliance, really,
appreciate the hard work and restless efforts of Mrs. Lilly Khanna,
other board members, and all active members in making the alliance
stronger. We promise to further accomplish our alliance goals and
objectives as were set by the peers as we head in to the future.
Additionally, we will
be installing new board members in our upcoming Planning Meeting on July
18, 2007. New committees will also be formed. New suggestions are
always welcome and will be put to action to make the Alliance worth
while.
Currently, the board
has following official designations:
President
Pooja Singla
Secretary
Barbara Bluhm
Treasurer
Rita Talamonti
Historian
Helen Ermete
Membership
Chair Meenu Gulati
Other positions will
be covered in the July meeting. We count on the active involvement of
our members and their voluntary roles for a stronger Alliance.
We plan on working
closely with the Wayne County Medical Society. WCMSA also wish to work
in collaboration with Alliances from other counties. A meeting is being
planned with Washtenaw county and Oakland county alliance in the coming
months.
Sum of whole is
always greater than the parts. Team work always succeeds and I am a
firm believer in that.
Kudos to all the
members! Way to Go – Wayne Count Medical Society Alliance.
