On May the 11th 2006
at the annual meeting held in Dearborn at the Andiamo Restaurant,
Darlene Henderson who had been president since May 2000 introduced our
guest speaker of the day Linda Allen, of Midland Michigan,

concerning the future of the Alliance and Lilly Khanna expressed
interest in taking a leadership role in the Alliance. She gave her
vision for direction of the W.C.M. S. Alliance. Pamela Sawhney made a
motion to elect Lilly as president for the year 2006-2007. The motion

Our ongoing projects are as follows:
World medical relief- Norma Henderson Chairman
This year 1,100 lbs. of pharmaceuticals were
collected from physician’s offices and delivered to World Medical
Relief. A wheel chair, eight bottles of Saline solution, and a walker
were also delivered. The prescription program continues to fill
thousands of prescriptions for senior citizens who pay only $6 per. The
medical equipment supplies wheel chairs, hospital beds, walkers, etc. at
a nominal cost. Shipments of medical equipment are sent world wide.
Thank you to doctor Richard Henderson for his help with deliveries. On
March the 25’ 2007 Norma and her husband Richard attended a World
Medical Relief Gala and fundraiser. David Haney received the Irene
Auberlin (W.M.R. Founder) Award for service above self. Norma and
Richard keep Mrs. Auberlin’s dream alive and well.
Nell Rhoades- in honor of her late husband Dusty
(Francis) holds the Rhoades lectures. These lectures are well attended,
and always have good speakers full of information on subjects that are
vital to the medical profession.
Alice Haidostian- with her deep interest and
inner drive for the science center, and giving birth to our T.A.M.
(Transparent Anatomical Mannequin). Alice keeps us informed on the
newest displays there and her hope of more of our involvement in the
science center.
Helen Ermete- continues her voluntary work with Interim House a Detroit
shelter for abused women and their children. We have been involved with
the shelter for over fourteen years. Essential foods, milk, eggs, meat,
bread, etc. plus toilet rolls, diapers, children and adult good clean
clothing, shoes, underwear, blankets, and strollers are all given
constantly. All holidays are covered, with chocolates at Valentines and
Easter, and hams, fresh vegetables, and gifts for every child at
Christmas, and an Easter basket for every child at Easter.
As health chairman Helen has also distributed "Hands are not for
hitting" information. This is part of the S.A.V.E. (Stop All Violence
Everywhere) and the No bulling program. The Alliance is in it’s
80th year. During this time we have
been involved in many, many projects, The Salk Polio project, The
Health-o-Ramas, The Science Center. Our members have also given
thousands of hours of voluntary work at local hospitals. We have played
a part in shaping Wayne County in Health Services. We are proud of our
past, and with ideas from new members and a commitment to give time, we
will survive.
We do congratulate Lilly in accepting the challenge and thank her. We
are part of a National Alliance— Be proud of that!!
This historian’s report is written to the best of my ability with the
information I bad, please forgive me if I have forgotten to mention
someone, or something or if my spelling is off base.
