All members arrived
on time at 10:00 AM. After a 15 minutes socialization, the meeting
started promptly at 10:15 AM.
Clara Sumeghy will
take up the responsibility for making the Directory of all the Alliance
members (as well as potential members).
Meenu Ghulati will be
the Membership Committee Chair.
Rekha Naik will be
Chair person of the Program Committee.
We welcome our newest
member, Tara Peterson, to the alliance. Tara accepted to Chair the
Education Committee. Education committee will continue increasing
awareness about smoke free environment, Hands are not for hitting, I can
handle Bullies, awareness about domestic violence, etc. The alliance
will support the Scholastic, ‘Reach out and Read’ /book drive program.
We will try to donate the used/new books to schools.
Lilly Khanna, Rekha
Naik and Helen Ermete will be supporting the Interim house. We
collected Toiletries, clothing, toys and food items to be donated.
Alliance will also be
represented at the Legislators’ meeting in Mid- September.
Felicity will be
arranging a meeting among the Wayne County, Oakland County and Washtenaw
county Presidents. Alliance plans on working in collaboration with
other counties’ alliances to make it a stronger association.
Alliance is working
on setting up its own Wayne county Medical Society Alliance Web-site.
There is a plan on starting a news letter for WCMSA.
Tentatively, there is
a plan to have our next meetings (All dates to be announced later) in
August to plan a Fall Luncheon in the end of October or beginning of
November 2007. The formal board meeting will be held in September.
Alliance will hold a
general meeting with all counties alliances and a potluck lunch (may be
Fall luncheon) that would be informative and we will have some talented
and creative people showing us ‘making candles’, ‘working with beads’,
and some ‘home spa – products from the kitchen’. All other members are
encouraged to participate in this event.
The meeting adjourned
at 11:30 AM followed by coffee.
I sincerely thank all
the attendees for today’s meeting and making it worth of their time.
Thanks to Felicity Thompson for introducing Tara Peterson to the
Alliance. We welcome our new board members – Clara, Rekha, Lilly, Meenu
and Tara. Rita Talamonti continues to be Treasurer; Barbara Bluhm –
secretary; Helen Ermete – Historian. Thanks to Alice for bringing in
her positive attitude and suggestions for Detroit Science Center.
Our best wishes to
all the board members and contributing members. We have 23 members who
have paid their dues for the year 2007-2008. We look forward to the
Alliance’s increased membership and its success in the coming year.
