Dr. Smith’s presentation, Yet with a Steady Beat - Pioneers in Michigan Medicine, focused on the important topic of health equity. The learning objectives of his talk included:
  • Describe how medical care through the Reconstruction Era and the 20th century explain possible contributing factors, to structural racism and social determinants of health care.
  • Describe three strategies to use in health care systems and large group practices to address health disparities and implicit bias.
