Membership
How do I become a member of WCMSSM?
Becoming a member is simple. Visit our Join Today page, select your membership category, complete the online application, and submit your payment securely through our member portal. If you have questions about which category is right for you, contact us at info@wcmssm.org and we’ll be happy to help
What membership categories are available?
WCMSSM offers three membership tiers. Free (Complimentary) Membership is available to Medical Students (M1), PGY1 Residents, Fellows in Year 1, Physicians in their first year of practice, Associate Members, and Retired Members. Paid (Active) Membership is available to Medical Students M2+, Residents PGY2+, Fellows, and Active Physicians — with dues varying by category. Legacy membership is a 10-year prepaid option designed for members who want to invest in the long-term strength of the organization. How much are membership dues?
Dues vary by membership category. Visit the Join Today page where pricing is displayed during the application process.
How do I renew my membership?
Membership renewal can be completed online through the member portal. You’ll receive a renewal reminder before your membership expires. Visit our Renew page or log in to your member account to renew.
Can I bring a guest to WCMSSM events?
Yes. Many WCMSSM events welcome guests. Guest pricing is available during event registration. Check individual event pages for specific guest policies.
How do I access my member benefits after joining?
Once your membership is active, log in to the member portal to access the Detroit Medical News archive, membership bulletins, event registrations, and more.
What is the Physician Wellness Service?
WCMSSM has partnered with Start My Wellness Psychotherapy to provide members with access to confidential, anonymous mental health support. All active and resident members have their first appointment paid for courtesy of WCMSSM. Visit the Physician Wellness Service page to learn more and book your appointment.

Detroit Medical News
What is the Detroit Medical News?
The Detroit Medical News is WCMSSM’s quarterly full-color publication delivered digitally to approximately 2,000 Wayne County physicians. It covers society news, healthcare editorials, legislative updates, historical perspectives, and current issues affecting the profession.

The WCMS Foundation
What is the WCMS Foundation?
The Wayne County Medical Society Foundation, established in 1987, supports charitable, scientific, literary, and educational initiatives. Through the Foundation, WCMS contributes to community outreach and professional development programs including the Charles C. Vincent, MD Memorial Scholarship, the Beaumont Lectureship, and the Francis P. Rhoades, MD Memorial Lectureship.

What is the Stuck in Traffic documentary?
Stuck in Traffic is an award-winning documentary produced by the WCMSSM Foundation to educate Michigan youth about human trafficking.
